$tock$tack is a Hypercard® stack which allows you to track various
technical indicators for individual stocks, mutual funds, and market
indices (such as the Dow Jones Industrial Average). It tracks and
plots the stock price (open, high, low, and close), trading volume,
moving averages, stochastics, Relative Strength Index, and "On Balance
Volume", both on a daily and on a weekly basis.
$tock$tack is originally designed to utilize quote files (in a TEXT format)
from the Prodigy™ Interactive Personal Service. Consult your Prodigy™ service user's manual for information on how to download quotes to a text file. I have also added the capability to read America OnLine™ Stock Portfolio Display files, CompuServe™ MQuote II files, and GEnie™ quote files (comma-delimited). You may also manually enter data for your stocks. If you have some other format that you download quotes in, from a service other ththose listed above, please contact me and I'll look into including that format in future versions of $tock$tack.
$tock$tack requires HyperCard® software version 2.1, at least 2 megabytes of RAM (under System 6) or 4 megabytes under System 7. HyperCard® must be allocated at least 1500K of RAM (change by "Getting Info" on HyperCard). The stack will automatically size itself for a 13" RGB screen ( 640 X 480 ). If your screen size is different, the stack will be the standard size for a 9" screen ( 512 X 342 ). If you desire a small card despite having a larger screen, holding the Command-key while opening $tock$tack (each time) will force a 9" standard card.
You may try this stack for 40 days without registering. During this time, you have full graphing capabilites, but the stack will only maintain 50 days worth of data. After that time period, the stack will not allow you to add additional data without the password, which you obtain when you register. Once you have registered, you will be allowed to configure the stack to your desires, telling it how many days to maintain data, what graphs to graph, how many days to use for various statistics, and what stock commision rates to use. You will also be informed when future upgrades are available. Some planned additions include:
1. Writing routines as external functions to speed up the program.
2. Allowing you to automatically record the purchase of multiple lots of stock and calculate you average costs (useful for Dollar Cost Averaging).
3. The capability to track a portfolio, possibly multiple portfolios.
